School Story Plans November 2023
If you want an experience for students, you have to experience it yourself.
Our plans for the 2023-2024 school year involve providing our students and staff with experiences that will allow us to build our social competencies and enhance our problem-solving skills among students and their peers. We have plans for school wide activities that will provide students with the opportunities to work in collaboration across age groups. What will we do?
- Survey students to gather baseline data of how connected they feel to their peers or students close in age.
- Provide students with opportunities to work with different groups and groups of different ages. How will we do this?
- School wide leadership program for our students in Divisions 1, 2 and 3
- This will involve direct teaching of leadership skills for these students
- Gathering student voice as to areas they would like to build their leadership skills
- Providing opportunity to organize activities for their peers or younger students
- Family Teams—groupings of students in Kindergarten through grade 7
- Older students will lead activities with adult support for the younger students on their teams
- Buddy classes—each class “buddies” with an older/younger class where they meet weekly or bi-weekly and take part in a variety of activities
- Students will be surveyed again in late May to learn if they feel more connected with their peers
