- Games
Each week on Thursday mornings students in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 head to their chosen group and are learning the skills as to how support our younger learners.
Intramurals
Thursdays at lunch our Teaching leadership group has run a skills class for our students in grades 3 and 4 for a particular sport and have introduced our younger students to the sports of volleyball and basketball. Our younger students are excited to be a part of the intramurals and our older students have really stepped into the role of teacher.
Event planning
Ms. Chan and Ms. Rekhi host an event planning group outside of the leadership class and this group planned 3 spirit days before the winter break. They will continue to plan activities throughout the year.
Buddy classes
Each of our 10 Divisions are buddy classes. An older division buddies with a younger division where our older students facilitate activities, with their teacher’s support for our younger students. Some activities have included: ice skating at Minoru, a winter themed carnival for their older buddies, coding, and building and reading together.
Family Teams
January will see our first Family Teams activity in almost 4 years. Family Teams are multigrade groupings of students in Kindergarten through grade 7. There are approximately 10 students per team and 2 teams meet with one teacher. Our grade 5, 6 and 7 students are pre-taught the activity and then they lead the activity facilitated by adults. These family teams will then be our teams for Sports Day this year.
