Team Blundell: Building Community and Belonging
The start of the 2024/2025 school year was an exciting one, including welcoming many new staff to the Blundell Bobcats community! This included school administration, enrolling teachers, non-enrolling teachers, and Education Assistants. As part of our efforts to build community among the staff was to participate in team building activities which included a Goose Chase, whereby staff working collaboratively with their new colleagues to participate in community building activities throughout the school. Not only was this a great activity filled with lots of joy and camaraderie, but it also brought the staff together to have a lot of fun. Just as we want our students to feel happy at school, we also want our staff to be happy as a group and so collectively, we are routinely working on building "Team Blundell"! Staff also participated in creating their own "Team Blundell" shirts at the start of the year as well. As this first term came to an end, when surveyed, staff describe our school team as "kind", "caring", "supportive", "flexible", "supportive" and "inclusive". When everyone feels a sense of belonging, that is when we are truly building community. We are well on our way to making "Team Blundell" stronger than ever! A sense of belonging and safety is necessary for Social Emotional Learning, not only for our students, but for the adults who work and care for them each day.
